The Corner Taverns are a group of pubs around Atlanta. Each Corner Tavern has its own unique menu and we were invited for a complimentary meal at the West Midtown Corner Tavern. This pub has pool tables and dart boards, as one would expect, but what you may not know about is the extensive beer list and menu, which is much better than your average pub fare.
We began with the Fried Artichoke Hearts and the $3 sliders: one shrimp and one brisket. The portion of the Artichoke Hearts was huge – perfect for a large group to share. The Artichoke hearts are so tasty by themselves you almost don’t need the ranch dipping sauce that comes with them.
Sliders are on just about every menu, and the biggest objection I have is their puny size. Often times they are all bread and no meat. Not the Corner Tavern’s sliders. The shrimp and especially the brisket slider were heavy on the meat. For $3, they are a steal.
Even after a couple sliders, we were still hankering for a burger and when I read about the grass-fed-served-on-a-Holeman-&-Finch-bun burger, I was sold. You can get a specialty burger like the Black and Blue or El Diablo, topped with Salsa, Sriracha and Jack cheese. I opted for a simple Smoked Gouda and Avocado and it didn’t disappoint.
If you like sauces like me, definitely get a side of the fries with four specialty sauces including Brown Gravy, Buffalo and Curry Ketchup. And while fries always go well with burgers, the Rogue Beer Smashed Potatoes were even better, so make sure to get one of each.
Makes sure to save room for the Guinness Pie, a chocolate silk pie made with Guinness. Rich and creamy, this one is most definitely made for sharing.
Each Corner Tavern serves brunch too. Why wait in long lines when you can dine at these joints where brunch entrees average a mere $8.50?
Extras: Kids eat FREE on Tuesdays at West Midtown Corner Tavern and Thursdays at Little 5 Corner Tavern 6-8pm
