Amura Sushi has several locations in Florida and recently expanded to Buckhead. They took over the space that was formerly MF Sushi. Huge doesn’t even begin to describe how large the space is. Besides having a quite enormous dining room, there is a another level upstairs. There’s even a lovely private dining room for parties.
Stepping inside Amura, it almost reminds me of a clubby scene with neon lights and flat screens hanging on the railings. It was quiet enough on the Wednesday evening when we dined to enjoy a date night. But I could also see it being a fun stop after work to meetup.
The menu features hot and cold appetizers, sushi, of course and entrees with choices of chicken, seafood and beef. Amura recently invited me to try some of their new menu items. The toughest decision is the starters, with more than 30 to choose from. Yes, that’s right, 30+. Of those, 9 have tuna in form or another. We settled on the Scallop and Tuna tartar. The presentation is nothing short of spectacular as you can see from the pictures below. While the Scallop which comes with blood orange and truffle salt was super appealing looking, I found the taste to a bit a bland. Of the two starters, the tuna was a better choice.
By far, however, sushi is the star of the show here. We had an order of the pressed sushi with spicy tuna, tuna, salmon, masago, scallion. It was fresh, tasty and quality sushi. However, if raw isn’t your thing, there’s plenty to choose from in the cooked variety. For entrees, we sampled the Waygu Steak and Sea bass. Both were done quite nicely too.
It is perfect for large groups not only because of the large rooms but also the expansive menu.
