20th Annual Oktoberfest at Petite Auberge in Druid Hills is the Last
Every October, for decades Petite Auberge, the French restaurant has celebrated Oktoberfest with a traditional Oktoberfest dinner menu and an authentic Oktoberfest Party on the fourth Saturday of the month. They’ll be doing this once again, however, this will be the last one in the Toco Hills Shopping Center where Petite Auberge has been for over four decades. Beginning in 2017 they will be moving to a new location on Clairmont Road.
From Saturday, October 1 through Monday, October 31, the restaurant offers an additional dinner menu, featuring traditional German and Bavarian appetizers, entrees, sides and dessert.
Entrée selections include: braised Bavarian Pork Roast, marinated German Sauerbraten (slow braised beef short rib), roasted Petite Schweinshaxe (pork shank), braised Beef Rouladen (beef strips with meat stuffing), pan-seared Wiener Schnitzel (breaded veal), sautéed Jaegerschnitzel (veal in cream sauce), pan-fried German Rostbraten (New York strip steak) and the crowd favorite, Bavarian Platter, featuring Bratwurst, Knackwurst and Roast Pork. Sides include potato pancake, spaetzle, Bavarian dumpling, and of course Apple Strudel for dessert.
The party also features a buffet with all-you-can-eat traditional German and Bavarian cuisine (served until 9 p.m.). Items on the buffet include: Bavarian pork roast, German sauerbraten, wiener schnitzel, knackwurst, bratwurst, fried trout, potato pancakes, dumplings, sauerkraut, spaetzle, wurst salad, red cabbage and homemade apple strudel.
The lively event takes place in the restaurant’s banquet rooms, which are transformed into a Bavarian-style festival hall. The event also includes a bar with select German draft beers and a selection of German wines as well as traditional “oompah” music by the famous polka party band Bavarian Express (which may even encourage the chicken dance, as in past years).
The party costs $50 per person and includes coffee, tea, tax and gratuity. Reservations are requested by calling 404-634-6268.
