Chef Ron Eyester’s Southern Bistro

The Angry Chef is back at Southern Bistro in Sandy Springs

He’s putting a fun twist on Southern food at the restaurant formerly known as Nancy G’s. The restaurant is open for brunch, lunch and dinner. But brunch is my favorite time to visit Southern Bistro. The pancake fritters with ham and pineapple aioli were one of the best dishes I had last year. See the pictures of them below.

Mimosas are terrific at Southern Bistro but I recommend the Irish Flower instead.

When brunching, skip the traditional Bloody Mary and opt for the Irish Flower. A Jameson cocktail might sound strong for the noon hour, but trust me when I tell how mellow this cocktail is. It really is perfect for brunch. Above left is the avocado toast at Southern Bistro. The generous portion has fresh herbs and hard boiled eggs included in it too.

Pancake Fritters with pineapple aioli are one of the best dishes I had in 2016!

Visiting Southern Bistro for lunch or dinner? I’ve got some recs for that too. A lovely cauliflower and scallop soup is a delightful start to your meal, with pureed cauliflower and sweet buttery scallops. Another interesting starter would be the collard green and ham egg rolls. Then move on to the slow-roasted chicken with apple rice pilaf or more traditional southern item, the Shrimp and Grits. With pieces of andouille sausage in it and the rich and creamy grits, this dish will keep you full for quite some time.

Southern Bistro is easy to get to from East Cobb or Buckhead. And I love that parking is easy with plenty to be found in the shopping center. Oh and if you do decide to visit at brunch, take advantage of the brunch which features two courses and your choice of mimosa or bloody mary for just twenty bucks!
