Not sure where to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year? I’ve put together a list of some of the top Mexican restaurants around Atlanta. There’s probably one in this list nearby for your Cinco de Mayo Celebration.
Rock ‘N’ Taco – A newbie to Buckhead’s dining scene it Rock ‘N’ Taco. If you are a foodie, you’ll definitely want to visit here. The chef hails from some of the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group restaurants. This gourmet taqueria features tacos like the Roasted Lamb and Duck Confit. Don’t miss out on Chef Gabriel’s flan for dessert. They’ve also got a new location in Sandy Springs perfect for Cinco de Mayo.
Tacos and Tequilas – Located on Roswell Road in Buckhead, you wouldn’t know such a festival spot was tucked away in this strip mall. Start your Cindo de Mayo festivities off with a jalapeno margarita. I love their empanadas and their steak dishes are superb especially the steak specialties.
Buckhead, Midtown, Perimeter and Grant Park- Tin Lizzy’s
Party the Cinco de Mayo night away at all the Tin Lizzy locations. They’ll have multiple bars and lots of festive music. And of course the Buckhead location has one of the best patios for margarita sipping!
3639 Piedmont Road
Atlanta, GA 30305
Midtown – Atlantic Station
Rosa is located adjacent to the lawn area, so you can feel free to watch any Cinco de Mayo festivities on the Rosa’s patio. The Mexican is always a good choice for fancy Mexican. Don’t forget to order some guacamole, prepared tableside.
Old Fourth Ward / Cabbagetown
Agave – If you’re looking for a more upscale spot to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, think about Agave with it’s southwestern decor and beautiful brick walls. Splurge and get the fried lobster tail. It’s so worth it! Scallops and Shrimp and Jalapeno Grits are terrific too.
Located in Krog Street Market, Superica is a great choice for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. With a lovely patio, you can grab a table with your pals or just belly up to the bar and order a margarita or cerveza. Delicious chips and salsas and the best sauce. Get the Pollo Perfecto, a crispy chicken leg and thigh covered in mole sauce. Want to celebrate early? They open for breakfast at 8am and serve it until 2 pm.
The Original El Taco
Wonderful chips and salsa and margaritas in a beautiful atmosphere. Great place to party for Cinco de Mayo!
I have to mention Nuevo Laredo as it is a staple as far as Atlanta Mexican restaurants go, but I can’t imagine how crazy busy this place is going to be on Cinco de Mayo.
1495 Chattahoochee Ave
Atlanta, GA 30318
Taqueria del Sol
Lots of delicious menu items like salsa trio starter (verde, asada and fresca), the shrimp corn chowder, the Memphis taco (smoked pork, jalapeño cole slaw, tequila BBQ sauce), the fish taco (poblano tartar sauce and pickled jalapeños).
1200-B Howell Mill Road
Raging Burrito has a great patio. So, seems to be perfect if you’ll be in Decatur for Cinco de Mayo.
141 Sycamore St
Decatur, GA 30030
Perimeter/ Sandy Springs
City Walk at Sandy Springs
227 Sandy Springs Place
Sandy Springs, GA 30328
Cheap, cheap cheap. Kind of a hole in the wall, but with decent food and drinks. Maybe it won’t be totally packed on Cinco de Mayo.
2071 Savoy Dr
Atlanta, GA 30341
