Meal kits: which one is right for you? [not all are made or priced equally]

Martha and Marley Spoon meal kit delivery

I feel like this is the most fancy of all meal kits. I got three different meals from Martha and Marley Spoon. After I made the Mission Fig Steak my husband remarked “Excellent!” he loved it. You will have to read the meals individually to know what you’ll need. When I was single, I would never had kept flour on hand, but luckily my husband makes bread and we keep flour on hand for that. Also, you would probably need things like a cast iron pan or items that can easily transfer from your stovetop to oven.

Peach Dish (meal kit delivery review)

Hey there, Peaches! That’s what is on the cover of the insert I got from the new home meal delivery service, Peach Dish. The service provides a three course meal for two people for $20. The box of food, delivered via USPS, is well wrapped and the ingredients are extremely fresh.

I received my Peach Dish box on a Wednesday but didn’t prepare the food for another five days. Yet, everything tasted like I had gone to the market and picked up those items that very day. The instructions that come with meal are clear and easy to understand. They come with full color photos of what your food will look like when it is done, which I love.  It is helpful to see what your food will look like when plated up.

The meal is easy for anyone, even a novice, to prepare all with basic kitchen supplies: a pot, a pan, salt, pepper and olive oil. Although I’ve only tried one meal, I found that the items were very forgiving. The pan I put the sausage was much hotter than it should have been, yet the sausage still tasted outstanding – juicy and flavorful. There was even a nice kick to it.

Cooking time is about 30 minutes or less. For me, I made the first two courses, then cooked the dessert crepe after, which took all of about five minutes. Portion size is just right. While I felt satisfied by the portions, I didn’t feel overstuffed.

The service is perfect for busy singles or couples. We all can’t eat out every night – the cost is high and going to the grocery after a long day at the office isn’t always what we want to spend our time doing. It is nice to know that, at least one day a week, an easy to prepare meal is waiting in your fridge.

Disclsoure: I received a complimentary package from Peach Dish to try, but the opinions expressed are my own. Want to try Peach Dish? Here’s their website.
