Tupelo Honey Cafe, Sandy Springs, Atlanta Restaurant Review

Bounty of Southern Favorites at Tupelo Honey Cafe

You may know that Tupelo Honey Cafe is now open in Sandy Springs. With more than a dozen locations in the Southeast I’m surprised it took them this long to come to Atlanta. But I’m glad they are here. I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek recently. Tupelo Honey Cafe is certainly more upscale than I was expecting.

When you visit Tupelo Honey Cafe, an order of biscuits is a must. Yes, it might sound trite – ordering made-from-scratch biscuits at a Southern restaurant, but trust me when I tell you these flaky biscuits are incredible. And what could make them better? The house made made blueberry jam to slather on top of them.

Besides a small patio to enjoy warm days, Tupelo Honey Cafe has a decent bar in the middle of the restaurant along with a large dining area. The coolest part of this Sandy Springs Restaurant is the wall art of plates, cups and other dining silverware and serveware.

If you like chicken this is the spot for you. The wings at Tupelo Honey Cafe are wonderful. But so is the fried chicken swimming in their gravy.

Another thing that surprised me about the spot is that they have a pretty long beer list featuring some local craft beers and the wine and cocktail list isn’t bad either. I had their special Watermelon Mule and it is priced at just $5. The appetizers for us, were better than the entrees. The Fried Green Tomatoes, Shrimp Tacos, Scallop Sofrito, and Chipotle Wings were all incredible.

The spicy sauce and cheese grits were a nice addition to our starter of Fried Green Tomatoes at Tupelo Honey Cafe in Sandy Springs. And a salad which you can see the background of the picture above had quality ingredients as well. It was certainly not a boring Caesar salad that you might expect at your average restaurant.

Tupelo Honey Cafe Steak

Although mains of Salmon and Meatloaf were below average, the fried chicken and steak were delicious. Save room for banana pudding for dessert. Tupelo Honey Cafe weekend brunch, and dinner service in Sandy Springs. Disclosure: My meal at Tupelo Honey Cafe was complimentary but the opinions expressed are my own.
