1kept atlanta buckhead restaurant

1Kept, Buckhead Atlanta, GA Restaurant Review

1Kept is a not-so-secret gastropub located in Peachtree Hills

Located just off Peachtree it is hard to miss the illuminated signage pointing to the turn in for 1 Kept. Passing by numerous times, I picked it for a girl date with a friend of mine on an initial visit but have been back several times on date nights and 1Kept does not disappoint.. And walking in, I knew 1 Kept was the perfect spot with it’s low lighting and rich woods.

Although I’ve only been a couple of times, both on weeknights and weekends, a huge focal point in the restaurant, is it’s beautiful bar. And I can attest to 1Kept’s terrific cocktails. 1Kept makes classics like a Sazerac and Old Fashioned, but most recently I went with the Winter Spice, a seasonal cocktail made with pear liqueur, orgeat (a nut based liqueur) and lime. And it was sensational. On past visits, we enjoyed the Gin Cocktail with rosemary, pickled lemon and basil and the 50 /50 martini. But this was not your average martini. It was half vodka, half gin (hence the name 50 /50) and came with fresh basil, cilantro and ginger beer.  So, if you are looking for a spot to meet for a drink, this is the perfect. There are also a couple comfy chairs near the bar area that offer a bit more privacy.

If cocktails aren’t your thing, 1Kept has a lovely selection of wine and beer too. There are about a dozen wines by the glass and nearly 20 craft beer choices. After my cocktail I moved on to the 7 Moons, a red blend and it paired so well with both the seafood and meat dishes we had at 1Kept. Plus, I love that wine are priced so affordably between $8 and $12.

1 Kept Beet Salad

Blowing past common apps like deviled eggs, Pimento cheese, and mussels on the menu, we dove right into the flatbreads on more than one visit. A watermelon and feta was quite unusual and interesting, but for something more normal, go with the mushroom and roasted chicken. Make sure to get a salad of some sort at 1Kept too. Pictured above is a beet salad, but the spinach salad with candied pecans and bacon infused dressing was magnificent.

1 Kept Scallops with Corn Risotto

1 Kept Scallops

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been wowed by apps and disappointed by entrees. Luckily, this wasn’t the case at 1Kept. The entrees were outstanding. Scallops with corn risotto and Chicken Schnitzel were fantastic. This tasty dish is served with caramelized onion cream and braised red cabbage. The crispy schnitzel mixed with that perfectly creamy onion cream is glorious.

We also loved the Steak Frites. Sure, the truffle fries don’t hurt but the steak, cooked medium was covered in creamy mushrooms reminiscent of a stroganoff.

But we weren’t done yet. A bananas foster and sticky pudding were on deck for dessert. I know I say this so much, but please don’t skip dessert at 1Kept. They are so phenomenal, you will be missing out if you do.

Service is excellent too. Different servers have all been really friendly and helpful with picking out cocktails / menu items. 1 Kept is great for a small group outing (think birthday celebration), date night or girls night out.
