Whether you live in Atlanta or are visiting, it is always fun to be pampered with a massage. So here are the best hotel spas in Atlanta.

Disclosure: My spa experiences at these hotels and resorts in Atlanta were complimentary.

Stay at the new Inn at Barnsley Resort

Yes, this is a bit of a drive from Atlanta, but this resort is so worth it. After the drive up here, you should stay overnight at the hotel at Barnsley as it is gorgeous and brand new. And make reservations to have dinner at the Rice House. I can’t think of a better way to relax after your massage than that!

For my spa treatment, I chose an exfoliating scrub. I felt like my skin could really use it. My masseuse was terrific at Barnsley, always asking about pressure and my sensitivity. Though this was more about skin treatment than a massage, I still came away thoroughly relaxed.  Plus, I was able to unwind the sauna right after.

Mandarin Oriental Atlanta Spa

Want the ultimate in luxury? Check into the Mandarin Oriental for an overnight staycation. If you are lucky you’ll get an early check in that way you can plan for an afternoon of spoilage from your massage to tea. Can I tell you a secret? I enjoy afternoon tea at MO more than the actual dinner. The food is quite filling too!

Pro tip: allow plenty of time before or after your massage at the Mandarin Oriental to relax in the new spa. The spa has been totally redone. There’s new jet tubs and more to enjoy before or after your treatment. Since I had an appointment for afternoon tea I didn’t have time to enjoy this. But now I know for next time.

Whitley Hotel Atlanta Spa

I had not been to the Whitely since it changed over from the Ritz-Carlton. Of course, if I’m going to make the trip to Buckhead, I’m going to add some food into the mix. While other spa experiences included dinner and afternoon tea, at the Whitley, I decided to change it up – I had Sunday brunch there. The brunch not only features a buffet of perennial brunch favorites but you can also order items like shrimp and grits, crab benedicts and fried green tomatoes. As it was Glen’s birthday, we decided a couple’s massage was in order. I don’t know why we don’t do more of these as it was exquisite.

Quite full from brunch (yes, we did the buffet but couldn’t resist the fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits or crab benedict either), we moseyed up to the 9th floor of the Whitley hotel where the spa is. Changing into our soft, plush robes and enjoying a glass of bubbly while we waited, it wasn’t long before our masseuses came to find us. Upbeat and making sure we were completely comfortable they worked expertly to make use feel totally relaxed. I definitely see more of these massage visits to the Whitley spa in Atlanta in our future.
