Best restaurants in the Battery Atlanta [updated 2022]

Posted by

There are no shortage of eateries at the Battery Atlanta. Besides being home to the Braves, there’s a concert venue and plenty of shopping options. Here’s where to dine when you’re at the Battery Atlanta.

Disclosure: Our meals were complimentary at these Battery Atlanta restaurants.

For the family – El Super Pan at the Battery Atlanta

El Super Pan is a great spot for families at The Battery

With a lovely patio that I’m sure is spilling over with visitors when the weather is nice, the indoors of El Super Pan at The Battery feels mighty tropical too, even in the dead of winter. We saw lots of families there enjoying empanadas and cuban sandwiches, but they also make terrific cocktails like their signature Mojito. It is tasty but won’t leave you tipsy.

Get the Cuban sandwich or Media Noche sandwich at the Battery Atlanta’s El Super Pan

You can go wrong with their signature Cuban sandwich. A half will fill you up nicely, but if you get the medium, like I did, you’ll have lunch for the next day. But take this tip from me – get a little crunch to your sandwich when you get the media noche filled with chicharrones. You’ll love it. And if you dine at dinner they have specials like a lovely skirt steak. Don’t miss out on their Pique sauce – this is a latin delicacy.

Adults Only – Sports and Social at The Battery Atlanta

Upper deck at Sports and Social Atlanta

Keep the party going at Atlanta Sports and Social. One of the best features of this is the lovely upper deck patio. I was there for a Braves game during which a downpour started halfway through the game. Lucky for us, we checked out weather app and made a beeline for Sports and Social.

Note that the crowd here is mostly in their 20s. And it is LOUD. This is not the place for the kiddies or to have a conversation. With anyone. They do have a good selection of craft beer. Expect mostly bar food here, but the burgers are quite satisfying, being two 4 oz patties on a brioche bun. Most burgers are around $12. I recommend the BBQ Brisket or Guacamole queso burger.

For Brunch Lovers – Jazz Brunch at C. Ellet’s

I just discovered the coolest Jazz brunch and guess what? It’s at The Battery!  Who doesn’t love a Jazz Brunch right? If you have out of town guests or just want to treat yourself you’ve gotta check out this fabulous brunch spot located at The Battery in Truist Park!

Get the Pancake Palooza for 2 and of course don’t miss out on their signature cocktails (or their huge sticky bun)! Sunday brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays.

For Oenophiles – CRU Food & Wine Bar at The Battery

Choose from a variety of wine flights at CRU

I haven’t seen many people ever drinking wine during a baseball game. Do they even serve it at games? Well if you want to taste some delicious wines before or after the game or off season, like I did, head over to CRU Food & Wine Bar. They offer three, 2 oz pours of various varieties, including a eight different red and about five different whites and one rosé. I chose the “Sexy Reds” flight and loved a Chilean Carménère. Flights are as low as $11 and as much as $23 for the “Benchmark Cabs.” Sampling one of my friend’s reds from the “Marvelous Merlot” section, I ordered a full glass of one of the Napa Valley Merlots.

L: Lobster pot stickers are the best thing on the menu, with fig bruschetta a close second. R: Crab avocado sandwich

CRU has launched a new lunch menu, which includes items like Lobster Pot Stickers (my favorite) and a bruschetta with figs. Those are excellent starters that would go well with a flight of whites or even a light grouping of reds like Pinot Noir. For my main, I chose the crab and avocado sandwich (above right). Rather than a full sandwich, it was served more like the bruschetta and a side of arugula. The light lunch was perfect and didn’t leave me feeling sluggish the rest of the afternoon.

Note that it is free parking at the Battery Atlanta for up to four hours when no events are happening. It is two hours free during events like concerts and then $20.

Tex Mex aficionados – The El Felix at The Battery Atlanta

Can’t get enough of Ford Fry restaurants? If you’re a fan of Superica, say Hola to it’s twin sister, The El Felix. Start out with the brisket queso when available. This will satisfy a hungry bunch in a hurry. Plus, it has got guac mixed into it as well. How awesome is that?

Another great starter is the Campechana de Mariscos. To me, this is like a mix of shrimp cocktail and ceviche. Plus, it is served up with sturdy tostada chips, so feel free to pile on the shrimp, guac and octopus. Oh and did you know? The Battery’s El Felix also serves drinks out of this cute little truck?

Yardhouse at the Battery Braves Stadium

Flat-screen TVs, an extensive drinks menu, and a buzzing nightlife feel is part of what you can expect as a first-time visitor to the Yard House. For those who’ve been to their other Georgia location in Atlantic Station, this space is much more open, though for now, you’ll still see the same crowds as the ITP spot.

Pretty much anything on the menu is a safe bet. The ahi sashimi, seared rare and blackened, is a sophisticated way to start your meal, though a tad on the salty side. Other clever starters include queso, coconut shrimp, egg rolls, and calamari. If you’re not counting calories, splurge on the lobster, crab & artichoke dip with baked pita chips, all the better shared with friends.

While I’ve always thought of the Yard House as more of a burger joint, I was pleasantly surprised at their pasta and seafood options. The penne with chicken (and mushrooms and asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes) was far and away my favorite, probably thanks to the marsala cream sauce that took it a couple steps above your traditional alfredo. The lobster garlic noodles were winners, too. They didn’t stint on the lobster, and there was shrimp and lump crab meat for good measure.

The pizza was fine, although with the Atlanta pie favorite Antico opening up in the Battery, too, there are probably better house specialties to stick to. And of course, the dessert menu is as rich as ever: s’mores brownie, crème brûlée, chocolate souflée cake, in servings that aren’t overly large.

If you’re looking for something lighter, try a street taco. For fresh, citrus flavors, I recommend the blackened swordfish taco. Mango, papaya, cilantro and lime blend nicely, standing out against a fairly decadent menu.

Getting there
Visiting the Battery for the first time? On weekends, it’s pretty popular and traffic may be a challenge, even if it’s not a game night for the Braves. Parking rates are currently $20 to $30. You might be able to avoid the crowds by going before the evening rush. Happy hour with discounted food prices is 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Their late-night happy hour starting at 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday is when the drink specials open up.

Well, what’s your favorite restaurant at The Battery Atlanta?
