Kitchen 320, Savannah, GA Restaurant Review

Southern hospitality has never been more apparent then at the new Kitchen 320 restaurant in Savannah’s B Historic hotel. Last month, we traveled the four hours from Atlanta to stay the weekend at the B Historic hotel and were treated to dinner our first evening at Kitchen 320.

If your refined palate wants something more than cheap cocktails served out of plastic cups,  you’ll love the drinks served at Kitchen 320. The image above is of the Peach Whiskey cocktail they were featuring when I visited. But one glance at the counter and you’ll see the fresh herbs that they use in cocktails, not to mention the house made syrups. Kitchen 320 is where to go if you desire a well made cocktail.

Chef Will Herrington put together a special tasting menu for us to sample his favorites. His simple onion tart was a tasty kickoff to our meal. Made with Vidalia onions, Will shared that he sources as locally as possible. The Pickled Shrimp entree below is made with GA shrimp as well.

I thought I’d had every crab cake imaginable, but I love Chef Will’s take on the crab cake. This is jumbo lump crab that sits atop a grit cake. There’s literally no filler as this is lump crab in a light sauce. I think this was my absolute favorite course of the evening at Kitchen 320. Not only was it delicious but the presentation with edible flowers was gorgeous and each bite with crab, creamy grits and just a tiny bit lardon was perfection.

You know what else was an unexpected surprise at Kitchen 320? It was the Sweet Tea Chicken Wings. You could certainly get a hint of the sweet tea brine treatment that these large wings get. It’s a nice marriage with the slight heat of the wings.  And how lovely is that presentation? That sauce? It’s a house made Horseradish Aioli.

I never though Okra could be sexy, but I mean, look at that plate below? Sure, skirt steak is the star here, but that okra was mighty delicious too. The steak was marinated in a light soy sauce. I was concerned that it would be salty or the soy would overpower the steak but it was perfectly balanced.

Dessert is NOT an afterthought at Kitchen 320. If you do any research about Savannah food before visiting, you know that Leopold’s Ice Cream is a must. But if you can’t make it there, don’t worry. You can order the specialty berry ice cream dessert featuring this ice cream. Kitchen 320 also adds some candied ginger too! Oh and check out the dessert cocktail!

If you find yourself in Savannah, skip the ultra-touristy River Street for dining and head a few streets back to Kitchen 320. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Disclosure: My meal at Kitchen 320 was complimentary but the opinions expressed are my own.
