This luggage charges your phone with its built in charger
As someone who travels somewhat frequently out of the world’s busiest airport (Atlanta), I love any travel luggage that can make my travel easier. So, when I heard there was a travel suitcase that comes with a built in charger, I was like, I’ve gotta have this.
Since most of my trips are usually five days or shorter, I ordered the smallest size. Honestly, I was more interested in the built in charger than anything else. Flying out of Atlanta, or really any major airport with the current state of air travel, its a game of hurry up and wait. But even more frustrating in Atlanta is the fact that there are about 8 plugs for the couple hundred people waiting for a flight. So, I love the security of knowing I can park my butt anywhere and charge my phone.

Away travel luggage with phone charging battery
You should know that the built in battery itself does take up to eight hours to charge. So, definitely let it charge the night before a flight so you have a full battery. But what’s great about it is that once it is charged fully you can get five full charges for your iPhone or similar cell phone. And, there are two USB plugs and one plug for the cord that comes with your AWAY luggage. So, you can charge multiple devices! I was able to charge my cell phone from when it was at 19 percent to a full 100 hundred percent in one hour and forty minutes.
As far as suitcase itself, the first time I used it was just on the subway in Atlanta. Just getting on and off the platform and a short 5-minute walk and the suitcase got scuffed up. I tried to smooth it out but it didn’t, which was unfortunate. The other thing I’m not really a fan of is that it zips closed in the middle (2 sides come together) as opposed to most luggage that zips on one side. It’s a bit awkward if you open and close your suitcase often (basically, you live out of it) when you travel.
The good thing about these suitcases is that they come with a lifetime warranty which covers any damage to the shell, wheels, handles, zippers, or anything else that functionally impairs the luggage. If anything breaks, they will fix or replace it for you.The electronic components themselves are guaranteed by a two-year warranty.
What I liked about the AWAY Travel bag with battery charger for devices:
- Small size easy to pickup
- Looks durable but it is lightweight
- Phone charging battery built into the suitcase
What I didn’t like about the AWAY Travel bag with battery charger for devices:
- It got scratched up easily
- It zips in the middle instead of one side (awkward opening / closing)

Two carry one sizes for the luggage with a built-in battery charger for devices
AWAY offers four mains sizes of bags: 2 carry-on sizes, a medium and a large. However, the carry-on sizes are the only luggage pieces that come with the built in battery chargers for your devices. The cost of the smallest size AWAY bag is $225 and the larger carry-on is $245. Though I ordered the smaller carry-on bag (Size 21.7” x 13.7” x 9” Weight 7 lbs.), I wish I had ordered the “bigger carry-on” (Size 22.7” x 14.7” x 9.6” Weight 7.3 lbs). Though the difference seems negligible, I think it really makes a difference, especially for trips that are longer than 3 or 4 days.
