Shami Kitchen, a fast-casual restaurant featuring Mediterranean fare opened in August in Sandy Springs.
The word “Shami” translates to “native of Damascus”—true of both Shami Kitchen’s Founder, Abe Malla, and Executive Chef, Abud Halabi. Chef Abud formerly ran his own restaurant in Syria. All menu items at Shami Kitchen are made from scratch, including pita bread to pickles. Start by choosing a base (pita, rice, or salad bowl), protein (chicken or beef shawarma or falafel), and two sides. Warps come with pita, tahini sauce, pickles, or hot sauce mix.
Get the Chicken at Shami Kitchen
As you enter Shami Kitchen there’s a large menu so you can decide what you want before you get to the counter. Check it out, but if you make your way to the counter, your opinion might be swayed, by Chef Abud. You’ll see he loves to give out samples. I was so sure I wanted the Beef Shawarma, but I tasted the chicken and I was in love! It was so juicy!
The bowls are in no way disappointing. They come with your choice of sides like carrots, beets, tabouleh and other fresh vegetables. They are generous with their homemade sauces too. Though I wish they’d put them in real plates instead of to go containers.
Shami Kitchen’s design is minimal yet inviting, with hardwood floors, white chairs, and colorful green accents. Open for lunch and dinner six days a week, you can also hire them for catering.
