Atlanta has no shortage of Mexican restaurants. Tacos and Tequilas strikes a perfect mix of laid back, yet a fun atmosphere that makes you want to linger and slowly sip on your margarita.

It’s rather large so good for groups and a nice choice as Mexican is certainly a crowd-pleaser.

Get the Jalapeno Margarita at Tacos and Tequilas!

Their jalapeno margarita is perfection. It has just the right amount of kick tow wash down those chips and cheese dip. Don’t get the big size at Tacos and Tequilas (pictured with me above) unless you are truly prepared for a drink that will kick your ass.

Chicken or Brisket Empanadas are fantastic at Tacos and Tequilas

To start, get the trio of empanadas. Though I didn’t love the mushroom ones, the brisket and chicken were delicious. You can mix and match or you can get all of the same kind at Tacos and Tequilas. If you plan on steak or beef for your main entree, the chicken empanadas are a good bet.
Tacos and Tequilas’ menu is huge and seems to go on and on forever. Should I get a trio of pork, beef and shrimp tacos? The chimichanga? Decisions, decisions. I shied away from my normal chimichanga or beef enchiladas and opted for two of the house specials  – steak and shrimp.

Perfectly seasoned steak is done just right at Tacos and Tequilas

Steak was a grilled skirt steak topped with grilled shrimp, served with a cheese stuffed poblano pepper. Steak isn’t something that tempts me at many restaurants, but here, with the Mexican spices and smoky pepper, it was terrific. Another entree specialty at Tacos and Tequilas was the
Chipotle Shrimp.  A dozen shrimp topped with house-made salsa Chipotle and served with grilled asparagus and Chipotle mashed potatoes. While I did enjoy it, the steak entree at Tacos and Tequilas was the winner of the two.

Sopapillas are a must at Tacos and Tequilas

Though we were quite stuffed, we somehow managed to find a bit of room for dessert at Tacos and Tequilas. Though the Flan was good, the Sopapillas were extraordinary. Even these were a large portion, that three or four could nibble on.
There are three locations of Tacos and Tequilas in Atlanta: Buckhead, Cumming and Midtown.
