While it is wonderful to venture to Buford Highway to experience authentic ethnic eats of a wide variety, it isn’t always feasible make your way across town to get there. It may not be the most authentic food, but Tin Drum Asian Cafe does provide a nice variety of Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese and Thai dishes.
I also love that they carry natural drinks like the Bruce Cost Ginger Ale. Not only is it made with fresh ginger but also real cane sugar too. Their thai iced tea is another winner. I love that unique flavor.
Of the three bowls I tried at Tin Drum Asian Cafe, the House Dish, Tin Drum (pictured at the top of this post) was by the best. Red Chili Curry mixed with tempura chicken in a sweet and spicy sauce was a winning combination. However, the Sing Chow Men was a very close second. This is yellow curry with vermicelli rice noodles with veggies like mushrooms, cabbage and carrots. All dishes are under $8 but it is worth the small upcharge to get shrimp in the noodle dish. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a distant third. The flavor was a little bland for me as I’m used to curries that really pack a punch.
Disclosure: Our meal was complimentary, but the opinions expressed are my own.
