I was concerned that there wouldn’t be enough parking given the many restaurants in the shopping center, but I found it was plentiful. The interior is bright and modern, with picnic tables and other outdoor seating available as well. Urban Cookhouse buys their food from local farmers in each community they are are located. Meats are prepared on a Big Green Egg.

Berry Salad at Urban Cookhouse

Food is bright and colorful, matching the interior of Urban Cookhouse. The Berry Salad is a good option for vegetarians, but you can make it better by adding grilled chicken. Oh and I love that the orange rolls come with most entrees.

Cuban Sandwich at Urban Cookhouse

But if you’re a carnivore, there’s plenty of tasty options, including beef, pork and shrimp too. I liked the Cuban Sandwich, but I wish it was on Cuban or even French bread instead of sandwich bread. The plain bread really detracts from the sandwich. Oh and wraps and sandwiches come with a side too. You’re eating mostly healthy right, so why not indulge in the hot cheddar pasta (I love how they deviate from referring it to mac and cheese, don’t you?).

Lime marinated steak entree with rice and salad.

Entrees are the same at lunch or dinner, so if you’re really hungry, I’m not sure that the entrees will be filling enough. See the lime marinated steak above. It was my favorite item, but I felt it could have had more of the main attraction. However, given the price point, the amount of food is reasonable.

Urban Cookhouse is a great choice for families. Besides healthy meals for kids, meals are very affordable with most being around $10. It’s a nice departure from the other chain restaurant options most families have. Unlike other fast casual spots they have beer and wine available. Plus, if you call ahead, you can go pick your meals up at the drive through. So, busy moms with a car full of kids don’t have to get out of the car.
