Is it possible to have a huge menu offering craft cocktails, burgers, pizza, CAB steaks and execute them all expertly? You can if you are Village Tavern.

I’ve been on a Manhattan binge of late. Village Tavern’s Manhattan was strong and the perfect kick off to the gluttonous evening ahead. I also tried the gin and cucumber cocktail (pictured below right) and it was light and refreshing, quite different than the Manhattan but excellent nonetheless. I really appreciated that Village Tavern in Alpharetta brings the cocktails to your table in a shaker and pours it in front you, ensuring a delicious first sip.

Although I’d been to Village Tavern Alpharetta once before for a light lunch, I didn’t experience much of the menu, but the Ahi tuna sliders were done right. So, I couldn’t miss out on the Ahi Tuna appetizer (pictured below) on a return visit and it was as spectacular as I remember. Another appetizer that is impressive are the fried oysters. It is a task to get the crispy outside while the oyster itself retains its taste and texture. But Village Tavern Alpharetta was able to maintain this.

Village Tavern is smart to have such a diverse menu and I think that is why patrons would rather flock there for a business dinner or a group dinner than say, to Pamaps up the street. Village Tavern features a crowd pleasing menu with fresh seafood, steaks, salads and more. They have a menu that highlights their dozen or so vegetarian menu items. And they make it clear that they are happy to accommodate any food allergies, plus a special Gluten Free menu.

It also features a large price range. Want a filling dinner for under $15? Order one of the flatbreads, burgers or shrimp tacos. Celebrating a special occasion? Get the Lombardi steak topped with Prosciutto and a mushroom marsala sauce (pictured below).

A variety of flatbreads are available at Village Tavern including Veggie pizza with asparagus. They’ve also got a tempting sounding Cremini mushroom and goat cheese as well as Bacon and Gruyere. Dough is made fresh in house every day using Pivetti flour imported from Italy.

Burgers are thick and cooked to order. My medium Pimento burger was piled with sweet Applewood smoked bacon. Though I barely made a dent in it, it heated up nicely the next day for lunch. Love that Village Tavern uses Kerrygold butter in their pimento cheese which is also used in their Deviled Eggs and BLT sandwich.

In addition, Village Tavern Alpharetta regularly has specials like the Grouper with scallops. If they do, get them. This grouper was delicious and only lightly sauced (Even though it doesn’t look like it!). The scallops were huge and very filling by themselves.

A steak was nicely done and not overly sauced as some restaurants do. At Village Tavern they let the quality of the meat or seafood stand out. Pictured below is the Filet Marsala. It is topped with a Lombardo Marsala wine sauce, mushrooms and prosciutto. The steak menu also features Filet Mignon, Rib Eye, Prime Rib and New York Strip.

Their happy hour is a killer deal: Monday through Friday from 3 – 6 pm, several appetizers are just $6. Thursdays are another good day to visit with $6 martinis and bubbles plus live music. Even Fridays feature select cocktails and wine for just $6.

In case you can’t tell, I’m a huge fan of Village Tavern. There’s cozy seating that lends itself to a romantic date night. Tip: If you are going for date night, call ahead and ask for at table by the fireplace. It’s just more romantic no matter what time of year it is. But the large space is also an equally good choice for groups. There’s no shortage of large tables and the menu is large and features items to highlight many dietary restrictions.

Disclosure: My meal at Village Tavern Alpharetta was complimentary, but the opinions expressed are my own.
