Best things to do in Normandy

Well, you’re probably here if you are planning to arrange a trip to Normandy, France, but aren’t sure of what activities to do there. First of all, let’s take the time to appreciate your decision to visit Normandy. Out of all regions in France, Normandy is especially unique and charming because of its food, culture, and historical significance.

So, there are plenty of ways to experience almost everything and get the most out of your stay. To help you plan your trip, we have compiled a list of the top 4 wonderful things you can do in Normandy that will help you have a wonderful time there.

  1. Visit the D-Day Beaches

The first thing you should do while in Normandy is to visit the D-Day beaches. We’re not saying it’s the only best tourist spot there, but it’s quite the experience if you are a history buff. These beaches are places where Allied forces landed on June 6th, 1944, in an effort to liberate France from Nazi occupation.

The beaches are now a popular tourist destination and offer a sobering reminder of the sacrifices made during the war. Many tourists only visit Normandy to see these sites of historical importance. You can also book WW2 tours and get a chance to visit Normandy Beaches and other WW2 sites around Europe.

  1. Visit the Medieval Center of Bayeux

The Medieval Center of Bayeux is a must-see destination and is home to the Bayeux Tapestry, a world-famous artifact that tells the story of the Norman Conquest of England. The tapestry is over 900 years old and is an incredible sight to see.

In addition to the Bayeux Tapestry, the Medieval Center of Bayeux is also home to a number of other historical artifacts and exhibits. This is a great place to learn about the history of Normandy and to see some of the region’s most beautiful architecture.

  1. Visit Mont Saint Michel

Mont Saint Michel is unlike any place you’ve ever been before. The ancient abbey is located just off the coast of Normandy in the form of an island commune, and as you approach it, you feel like you’re stepping back in time.

There is so much to see and do at this stunning site, from exploring the medieval abbey to walking the ramparts to simply taking in the incredible views. The island is full of narrow, winding streets and medieval buildings, which can be quite a sight to see.

  1. Explore Museum of the Battle of Normandy

This museum tells the story of the Allied invasion of Normandy during World War 2. Here you will find a chronological timeline of the battle leading up to D-Day. Replica tanks, jeeps, uniforms, and C-47 planes used in WW2 are kept here to give visitors a deep view of the history.

The museum is located in the town of Bayeux, which was the first town to be liberated by the Allies. If you love exploring history and want to pay tribute to the soldiers who died during the war, this museum is the best place to visit when you are in Normandy.
