The Sun Dial Atlanta + new menu

Posted by

The Sun Dial, with it’s spectacular views of the Atlanta skyline, recently underwent a huge renovation. It is the first for the 35 year old restaurant. We checked out the Sun Dial renovations and enjoyed their Harvest Dinner recently.

Chef Jason Starnes gave us the overview of the menu and his passion for getting locally sourced ingredients. That is pretty amazing feat for a huge hotel chain. Also, we were well taken care of by our server, Ann. Y’all, she is so sweet and entertaining. She made our evening delightful.

But enough about the renovations, you should see the food we got! Course 1 was the Potato Bisque with leeks. It was served with a parmesan cracker and taken like a shot instead of sipped on.

Course 2: Butternut Squash with Beets and Arugula

Course 3: Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

Course 4: Pork Belly and Scallops

The meal was terrific. To be fair, the Sun Dial is much more about the atmosphere and the view (and what a view it is) than it is about the cuisine. Everything we tasted, besides the expensive cocktails, was delicious but there wasn’t anything that was extremely unique. But hey, they are catering to the special occasion (I wonder how many proposals have happened here?) / out of town crowd , not the foodie crowd.
