Movie Tavern, a dinner and movie concept opened last year in the Marietta / Roswell area. I was glad to have a concept like this closer to home. I do love Cinebistro but it is a long haul for me to make it over there. I’ve been to Movie Tavern twice to see movies and like the comfy seats and clean theatres. Staff was very friendly and the interior is well kept and well decorated.
The first time I went, I bought my tickets online. I liked the fact that when you purchase online you can also pick out your seats. This obviates the need to arrive super early to make sure you get a good seat. To my chagrin, even though you buy tickets online and are given a QR code for scanning which you can easily show on your smartphone, you still must wait in line at the ticket counter for them to scan and print out real paper tickets. What a waste of paper and time! Thank goodness there wasn’t a long line or we would have missed the opening scenes of the movie.
On a second visit, we just showed up and got tickets for an opening day show. Bad idea as the only seats left were in the second row. Shame on me for not planning better. This time, we ordered food. Me: Mahi Tacos ($11.25), hubby: Porky’s Revenge burger ($11.50). Prices seem in line for what I would expect from a movie theatre but the food was rather disappointing. I didn’t get any pictures because it was too dark by the time our food arrived. But I struggled to find the fish in my fish taco. Instead of 3 puny tacos, they should have just given me two, full of goodie. Hubby’s burger was pretty salty and just so-so. Definitely not on par with what Cinebistro offers.
Overall, I love that this movie theatre option is available. While I probably wouldn’t eat there again, it is nice to know a reserve seating theatre is practically a hop, skip and a jump away.
