Here’s the definitive list of the best guides for a girls weekend trip to Atlanta!
The first thing you need to know about Atlanta is that the city is quite spread out. Depending on what you want to see and do on your girls trip to Atlanta, that will determine what part of town you ultimately decide to stay in.
If you and your girlfriends are coming to Atlanta for the first time, and you want to hit up all the sightseeing spots like the World of Coke, GA Aquarium and the CNN Center, then you should consider staying Downtown. If you are more of a foodie and want to enjoy fabulous dining and some exceptional bars for your girls weekend in Atlanta, then Midtown Atlanta is probably right for you. If high end shopping and luxury spa time is on your agenda for your girls getaway weekend, then you may want to consider staying in Buckhead.
There are so many things to do downtown like sporting events, visiting the Aquarium or seeing a concert. Maybe you are in town for a concert. The Hyatt Regency is a terrific choice with its proximity to many downtown Atlanta venues. Here’s my take on how to enjoy the Hyatt for girls trip. Of course, a smaller hotel with an itinerary is the Hotel Indigo also located downtown.
Sure, big hotels are nice, but sometimes you want a boutique hotel for your girlfirends getaway in Atlanta. Did you know? It is possible to find a great hotel in the heart of Midtown? I’ve stayed in my share of “boutique” hotels and have been disappointed, but let me assure you, the Artmore Hotel in Midtown is a fantastic choice for a stay.
The Artmore Hotel is across the street from the Arts Center Marta station, which means you can take the train in without having to pay hotel parking fees.
If you are considering a luxury trip of massages and shopping for your girls getaway to Atlanta, you may want to consider The Whitley Hotel in Buckhead. They give excellent massages!
Where to eat on your girls getaway trip in Atlanta
If you aren’t from the south, perhaps barbecue is on your plan for your girls weekend trip to Atlanta. Here’s some of my favorite spots for barbecue. Or maybe you prefer more of a taste of Southern food. Check out Southern Art, Watershed, Wisteria for some upscale southern dining in Atlanta. Of course, for a less posh experience, head the one of Atlanta’s oldest Southern restaurants, Mary Mac’s.
Have you heard of those cool food stalls we have in Atlanta? There’s Krog Street Market and Ponce City Market. While I think PCM is pretty cool inside, most Atlantans will tell you that Krog has better food. But Ponce City Market does have a pretty cool rooftop vibe with boardwalk style games a la Skyline Park and a great restaurant – 9 Mile Station.
Where to have fun on your girls weekend in Atlanta
Of course, some of the most popular sightseeing attractions in Atlanta are the Mercedes-Benz stadium, World of Coke, GA Aquarium. But going for a ride on Skyview – Atlanta’s Ferris Wheel is pretty fun. If you want to be a bit more active while still getting your booze on check out the Atlanta Beer Bus or Southern Pedaler (great idea if you’ve got 4 or more people in your girls party.
So, where will you spend your time getting into trouble when you visit Atlanta?
