9 places to travel in winter if you need a warm January

January is the cold month of gray skies and gloomy winds in the Northern Hemisphere. But, let’s took a look at some of the warmer Januaries, in the other parts of the world. Its not scorching heat and its not biting cold, its the pleasant weather that provides enough daylight and positive vibes. These are those places to retreat in January.

The Hottest Beach Picks

Temperatures hitting 32°C in the middle of winters at Phuket and Andaman Coasts. There is also the Zanzibar that match similar temperature with fewer crowds and better warm water around its winter season.

Island Escapes in the Indian Ocean

To be fair, the Maldives and Sri Lanka’s west and south coasts are at around 27 to 30°C. The perfect weather to enjoy in coastal bungalows.

Colorful Cities by the Sea

Historic towns by the beaches that are warm might just be the right thing in the winter season. Cartagena in Columbia has these historical towns and temperatures around 31°C when winters are beginning. Auba and Curaçao again are some places to find warm weather around 30°C.

Caribbean and Mexico Favorites

Cancún and Riviera Maya: About 82°F with the sea near 77°F, and easy to reach from North America.
Punta Cana: 82 to 84°F, with the sea at 80°F or more.
Montego Bay, Puerto Rico, Barbados and Antigua: Generally 82 to 84°F in dry season.

Staying in the US

Hawaii holds steady at 79 to 82°F, and January is whale-watching season! Miami, South Florida and Key West are the warmest mainland option at 76 to 81°F, while Palm Springs offers sunny desert days around 70°F and cooler nights.

Summer on the Other Side of the World

Since it’s summer down south, Cape Town sits around 79°F with dry, sunny days for beaches and wine country. Sydney and Australia’s east coast range from the mid-70s to mid-80s, and Rio de Janeiro gets hot and humid at 82 to 88°F.

Milder Sun Close to Europe

The Canary Islands, like Tenerife and Fuerteventura, generally stay at 68 to 72°F, a short flight from most of Europe. Dubai offers comfortable desert warmth of 75 to 79°F with very little rain, and Egypt’s Red Sea around Sharm El Sheikh sits at 72 to 75°F with warm water for diving.

Picking by Flight Time

In general, Florida, Mexico, the Caribbean and Hawaii are quicker from North America. From Europe, the Canary Islands, Morocco and Egypt’s Red Sea keep travel short. For the warmest sea and beach days, Zanzibar, the Maldives, Thailand and the southern Caribbean are the better bets.

Before You Book

January is peak dry season across most of the Caribbean, Mexico’s Yucatán and Thailand’s Andaman coast, so rain is generally low. However, weather can change from year to year, and these figures are typical averages. Check the forecast closer to your trip before packing only shorts.
