Euphoria: Phenomenal Food Festival 2 Hours from Atlanta

Why is it that big cities like Atlanta get all the praise for food festivals, when smaller cities like Greenville do it so much better? Euphoria Food, Wine and Music annual festival is this month: 9/21 – 9/24.

If you are around and can visit the festival in Greenville (only a 2 hour drive from Atlanta), I highly recommend it. I’ve attended several years in a row and loved it! I’m not much of a food festival fan, but this is one notable exception. Why? The crowds are reasonable. There aren’t ridiculously long waits for anything. The weather is perfect as fall is in the air. Festival events are within walking distance of Greenville hotels. Read my thoughts on Euphoria from past visits here, here, here and here.

Here are some of the highlights:

Friday Entertainment at Euphoria Taste of the South

Friday: The Taste of the South is the perfect start to the weekend. Mosy on down to the Wyche Pavillion, the beautiful brick open air center where lots of restaurants are serving tastes of their best dishes. Then find a spot on the lawn to listen to the musical acts. This year, for 80s music lovers, Kim Carnes will be one of the performers.

Best Wines on a Budget

Led by Master Sommelier, Wayne Belding, we learned how to pick some of the best wines on a budget. Half of it seems to be knowing other names that famous wines are referred to. For example, a Tempranillo may also be known as a Tinto or Cencibel. A Malbec may also be known as a Portillo. He favors Old Vine Zinfandel over a Merlot or Cab. Why? The root structure of their vines is longer and deeper, which yield fewer yet more fruitful grapes. Now you know!
