The Tryon Park Hotel in Charlotte is a relatively new hotel located in the heart of Charlotte. With a modern and luxurious design, there are many modern amenities that savvy travelers will love.
1. Floor to Ceiling windows at the Tryon Park Hotel in Charlotte
Table of Contents
Floor to ceiling windows are terrific, especially the higher up you are…well, if you don’t have a fear of heights. But at this downtown Charlotte hotel you are so close to many attractions and are in the heart of the city so the floor to ceiling windows are terrific, especially when you have a view of the baseball stadium. One of the nice things about the hotel is that many of the rooms are set so you have multiple views in different directions. Plus you see these views whether you are in bed or working at the spacious desk.
2. Happy hour at the Tryon Park Hotel in Charlotte – wine-oh yeah!
Yep each day there’s wine in the lobby. Starting at 5 for about an hour or so you’ll find wine and some snacks. It is the perfect way to unwind after a long day of work or Charlotte sightseeing. I enjoyed the red they put out. Plus, you don’t have to rush up to your room right away. There is plenty of seating, so if you are traveling solo, mingle with some other Tryon Park Charlotte hotel guests.
3. Sleek, modern look at this Charlotte hotel!
When I say modern, I’m not kidding. This is a Kimpton hotel and it is modern looking yes. But it goes beyond that. For example, when you are ready to head up to your room just swipe you key OUTSIDE the elevator and your elevator will arrive promptly. No need to push a button as it already knows what floor you are going too.
4. Merchant + Trade Rooftop Bar at Tryon Park Charlotte hotel
What’s a hotel these days without a rooftop bar, am I right? It’s almost one of those expectations we all have when we travel. I’m all about taking in that spectacular view while sipping on a craft cocktail. If you go try the Estate Sale, made with rum, Campari and Mole bitters.
I just wish I could have spent more time at the rooftop bar than I did. If you get nothing else, do yourself a favor, and try the blue crab rolls (pictured below). Even if you have dinner reservations that you are late for, just get these. You’ll devour them. The Duck buns with an orange marmalade were a close second.
5. Spacious rooms at the Tryon Park Hotel in Charlotte
Even though I don’t spend an inordinate amount of time in hotel rooms when I’m traveling, I still enjoy big hotel rooms, don’t you? First of all, the bathrooms are huge as well. Plus, they have a really cool layout. The bathtub and show are enclosed in one full glass case. Not a bath / tub combo as you may be thinking. The black and white tile is gorgeous and the remainder of the bathroom allows plenty of room for doing hair and makeup.
A king bed is on one side of our room with a wall separating the desk area. While I loved the views of the baseball stadium, I also loved the blackout curtains which allows me to sleep peacefully well into the morning.

6. Walk to attractions from the Kimpton Tryon Park in Charlotte
You can’t beat the location of this hotel. Walk to nearby restaurants, the pretty park just across the street, and attractions from your hotel. We could walk to everywhere we went during the weekend with the exception of the Whitewater Center.
7. Angeline’s restaurant is located in the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel
You don’t have to go very far to have a terrific meal if you are staying at the Kimpton in Charlotte. Like you only have to walk downstairs to the delightful restaurant, Angeline’s. With a terrific lineup of cocktails, skip the wine in favor of these treats.
Pasta, scallops and mussels at Angeline’s are all hits. Portions here are large so eat a light lunch. Plus, they’ve made the space quite beautiful with soft wood and lighting fixtures that make you forget you are dining in a hotel restaurant.
8. Parliament Coffee is next door to the hotel
Sure, there’s coffee available in the hotel. But when I’m traveling, I really love a fancier coffee at least one day. So, I was happy there was Parliament coffee right next door to the hotel. If you go, get a flat white and Nutella croissant.
What makes Parliament Coffee exceptional? Their coffee machines imported from Florence, Italy. Named La Marzocco they make incredible coffee by providing a consistent unparalleled cup of espresso. Beyond that, the company direct sources their beans from a Nicaraguan coffee farmer.
9. Friendly employees at the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel
No matter where we found ourselves at this Charlotte hotel, we were greeted by friendly employees. For example, we had just missed our chance to get coffee in the lobby, yet one of the front staff offered to head to the restaurant to get me a cup (he literally saved the day for me!).
