Food for Thought: A New ‘Do from Three-13 Salon

Ladies, you know how you search and search for that hair stylist you just love that just “gets” you? Well I found her…and then she moved away. I haven’t really found one that I connected with, when my friend, Kitsy, suggested I visit her client, Three-13 Salon and Spa.

Massive doesn’t begin to describe this Three-13 Salon and Spa. There’s a special room for bridal parties, a room for foot massages, and the stylists’ area is gigantic. Part of their service is to give everyone a complimentary paraffin wax hand treatment. They put your hands in the warm soothing wax and give it a gentle massage before you head off to meet your stylist. So fancy!

And what’s more is that stylists are completely separated by cuts and color. I elected to have both done. Unfortunately, being a hair color virgin, or unicorn, as Georgia, my color stylist referred to me, I neglected to schedule enough time for both on the same day. I ended up getting a cut and then coming back for color.

Rather than a simple trim or giving the stylists a tight description on what I wanted, I let them both have free reign…sort of. I explained I wanted a new look, but nothing too extreme. See the before and after of my haircut above. I love my new summer ‘do – short and sleek.

Subtle highlights make for a refreshing summer look

I’ll admit I was bit nervous about the color when I came back. What had I agreed to? Would I take one look in the mirror and scream? I don’t know about other color experts but Georgia really put me at ease, discussing her ideas and some options. She spent a lot of time on my hair and I am certainly pleased with the highlights. If you need a new look or are thinking of taking the plunge into hair color, a recommend a visit to Three-13.
