Revol, a French-based company that makes modern dinnerware and serve ware, makes a hostess look good.
So, when you get new toys, you want to play with them right? So, I decided to have a small gathering to catch up with some friends, use my new items from Revol and have a cocktail or three.
Arborescence serving platter
Serving up a tomato, basil, and mozzarella salad (pictured at the top), the modern looking Basalt tray really highlighted the colors in the cherry tomatoes. But you could use this serving dish for a variety of side dishes as well. Next up, I could see making some antipasto skewers.
Basalt Serving Platter
Basalt looks like slate but with none of the inconvenience. It won’t scratch, absorbs neither fat nor odors and is resistant to chipping. What I liked even better was the black matte serving platter, which I placed the charcuterie on. I love serving charcuterie. It’s so easy to purchase the necessary meats and cheeses and it looks beautiful on display. For my party, I found a Capicola and Sorpessata along with a delicious Gouda and honeyed goat cheese. They must have been a hit because there was nothing left over.
Basalt Party Baguette
This little dish is so cute and made for a perfect display of the olives to compliment our charcuterie plate. You could also put crackers in them or fancy French Macarons.
Basalt Pizza Stone
Though we do make pizza at home occasionally, we used our pizza stone to display my hubby’s homemade bread. Unlike slate, Revol’s black ceramic is non-porous, so no fat or bacteria will remain after dishwasher cycle. Black all the way through, you don’t have to fear chipping. The material also maintains heat very well, it is oven and microwave safe. You can also make the best use of this tray for any cold preparations, notably sushi, by placing it in the freezer prior to serving.
I do love the modern look of Revol’s items and that they are easy to care for and are heat and chip resistant. If there’s any criticism, it seems like they could just be a bit larger, especially the pizza stone. Want to order Revol items for your next party? Here’s the Revol website.
Disclosure: Revol provided the items to me at no charge.
Read about the cocktail kit I had delivered to my house, which made this quite the happy hour!
