Are you planning a girls weekend in Atlanta, GA and looking for activities to fill your days?
From tasty food tours to lively nightlife experiences – there’s something to suit every budget. Read on for our top picks of what to do when visiting the beautiful city of Atlanta!
1) Hotel Indigo – Our Top Pick
Hotel Indigo downtown Atlanta is an excellent base for your girls weekend stay. We only stayed one night but I wish we’d been able to stay for two nights as the hotel was so ritzy and glamorous.
I loved that the room was spacious, especially if you are staying with a friend, rather than a spouse. Sometimes with two beds it can feel cramped but it didn’t one bit at the Hotel Indigo for our girls weekend in Atlanta.
And oh my gosh, their beds are so comfortable you will sleep like a baby! I sure did!
Another benefit of the hotel is that we didn’t have to wait long to check-in. I mean, no one has ever said, “I enjoy waiting” but especially when you are waiting to check in to a hotel, you just want to drop your bags and relax.
I’ve been to hotels where there is a long check-in line (Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino Las Vegas!), but luckily Hotel Indigo had plenty of staff at check-in so this didn’t happen.
If you like, the super sexy JP bar is a good place to stop in for a drink to get your girls weekend party started.
Tip: You may want to partake in the breakfast buffet if it is part of your Hotel Indigo stay. With options like fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage and more it will certainly fill you up.
But Atlanta has so many fantastic brunch options, you should at least venture out to another destination for brunch even if you have a light breakfast at Hotel Indigo.
2) Polaris Restaurant
There is no shortage of things to do in Atlanta from the Aquarium to the Atlanta History Center and beyond. But this is about the ultimate girls weekend in Atlanta, so you’ll want to kick off your evening with drinks at the Polaris. Why?
For starters, it’s basically across the street from your hotel (definitely within walking distance). The rotating restaurant/bar in a historic hotel features stunning views of the Atlanta skyline and well-made craft cocktails.
Try to schedule your visit to coincide with the sunset. Get the Pearfecto if available. This refreshing cocktail comes with lots of pears and cinnamon flavour, though a Polaris Colada (pictured above) with vodka instead of rum doesn’t disappoint either.
3) Dinner / Drinks at Foxtrot
Dinner / Drinks at Foxtrot – Walk back to the Hotel Indigo and freshen up or relax for a bit. You are going to a bar for the next step on your ultimate ladies weekend in Atlanta, so you don’t want to get there too early.
Now there are fabulous restaurants in Midtown Atlanta, so you could certainly dine at one of them but Foxtrot is the ultimate foodie bar food.
Think of items like duck egg rolls with kimchi, pimento cheese fritters, poutine and pirogies. Plus enjoy a craft cocktail or two. Click on the link above to read more about Foxtrot.
4) Brunch at Sweet GA Juke Joint

The Hotel Indigo offers checkout at noon, so make your way, just about a 3-minute walk down the street to Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint.
Be sure to make reservations well in advance of your girls weekend in Atlanta or you’ll find yourself waiting 1.5 or more hours like all the other suckers who didn’t plan ahead.
They have delicious spiked coffee and other cocktails to sip on while enjoying the talented vocals of the musicians. The benedicts (regular or crab) or fried chicken are terrific and oh-so-filling brunch options.
Tip: We decided to take MARTA to and from downtown instead of parking overnight on our girls weekend. And whoa did we regret that choice. MARTA is an absolute pain in the ass on weekends. You have to get off and catch different trains as the red line (Sandy Springs, Roswell, etc) only goes to and from Lindbergh station.
The waits were beyond ridiculous. Plus we ended up spending $20 between rides and parking (how is it $10 to park overnight when all the posted signs say $5?). Anyway, Hotel Indigo’s parking is $30 and the extra 10 bucks is worth not having the headache that is MARTA.
I also can tell you where to find a boutique hotel for your Atlanta Girls Getaway Weekend!

Disclosure: Our meals and stay were complimentary for our girls weekend in Atlanta but the opinions expressed are my own.
